A venue that has excellent meeting rooms across various locations within some beautiful listed buildings is looking for a Meetings and Sales Executive (MICE) to increase the revenue of its conference facilities.

The responsibilities of the Meetings and Sales Executive will be:

  • To build business through proactive (warm / cold calling etc) selling to prospective and existing clients.
  • Responsible for conversion of incoming conference enquiries from all sources into provisional or confirmed business.
  • To carry out telephone negotiations and host site meetings to include tours of facilities with prospective clients at all levels. 
  • Prepare and send out client contracts and quotations.
  • To plan and organise all practical aspects of the event, in accordance with the clients’ wishes (e.g. catering, audio visual, room set up, car parking, security, cleaning etc) identifying opportunities to up sell.
  • To provide appropriate support to sales and marketing initiatives and projects.
  • Attendance at major trade exhibitions for face-to-face selling.
  • Attendance at networking events and familiarisation trips where appropriate
  • To actively obtain post event client feedback, ensuring that it is recorded and effectively communicated to all relevant parties - including Marketing, for analysis

The skills required for the Meetings and Sales Executive (MICE) role:

  • Have previous proactive Meetings & Sales (MICE) experience, ideally in a Residential Conference / Events venue environment, of sufficient quality to demonstrate proven success in this area.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to negotiate in a professional manner, maintaining the interests of the business at all times
  • Education at least to A level standards or equivalent
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English and numeracy
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Be computer literate, (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Outlook).Experience of a computerised diary/booking system (ideally Kinetics) required.
  • Be flexible and able to work longer hours at business critical times.
