A large technology organisation that specialises in many sectors is looking to expand their travel technology team and therefore require a strong business development manager.
The responsibilities of the business development manager will be to identify prospects and market opportunities in the travel vertical. You will generate new business opportunities within the travel and hospitality sectors selling software service solutions using old / new contacts.
You will be involved from development through to implementation and delivery ensuring a smooth migration. You will follow up on direct sales leads. You will manage customer database developing ideas and creating mail campaigns to major accounts. You will establish and compile intelligence on customer applications and generate competitor intelligence.
You will be involved in designing and producing marketing collateral for exhibitions and Press Releases. You will attend trade shows, events and meetings. The successful applicant will require having 10-15 years of sales experience in UK and ideally western Europe but not essential with a minimum 5 of those years’ sales in a travel vertical.
He/she will be have primarily sold IT services and ideally booking engines to tour operators, hotels, airlines, OTA's etc. The business development manager should be able to demonstrate won deals from £2 - £5 million and therefore be well connected with senior executives in the travel industry.
You must be self motivated, have the ability to compile documentation, perform presentations and close deals. In return the company will provide a very good salary plus commission.
