Key Travel, specialising in travel management for the not-for-profit sector in Europe, has acquired US-based company World Travel Management (WTM).

Based in Washington DC, WTM will be rebranded under Key Travel and will work closely with the travel management company's UK and Belgium offices.

The acquisition marks Key Travel's first foray into the US market, which the company aims to use as a launchpad for "an increasingly international travel management service to major non-profit organisations".

Steve Summers, chief operating officer of Key Travel, said: "Many of our major customers operate in multiple regions around the world... We believe this acquisition allows us to better serve our existing customers, as well as opening up new opportunities in North America."
