Tripware launches Outlook-based booker

Travel booking via popular email client

Travel management software that allows booking via Microsoft Outlook has been launched into its first ‘beta' phase.

Tripware's Outbook ‘plugin' fully integrates itself into Outlook 2007 and uses its calendar to plan and book travel.

Software company Remotian Systems, which owns the Tripware business travel service, said the plugin was aimed at business users who manage and book their own travel.

The plugin also offers loyalty programme tie-ins, expense report management and preferred travel supplier settings for airlines, hotels and car rental.

The software is also available as a standalone product.

Remotion's president and ceo Clark Rines described Tripware as a "self

self-managed travel tool" rather than a self booking tool (SBT) as it does not cut out the travel agent completely.

"While we do use an approved and accredited travel agency to handle the ticketing and fulfillment process, the entire process is self managed and fully automatic," he added.

"Our mission in life for Tripware is to provide an easy to use, intuitive travel tool to eliminate the mundane and time wasting tasks associated with business travel."

Travel booking is currently limited to US domestic only. Remotian said international travel will become available in the near future.
