South African Lloyd to sit on board of directors
Members of the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) have elected its former Europe boss to the organisation's board of directors.
Jo Lloyd stood down as ACTE's regional director for Europe the Middle East and Africa some two-and-a-half years ago and has since worked with both Qatar Airways and her present employer, InterContinental Hotels Group.
But the popular South African, who is based in the UK, has been chosen to serve a three-year term in elections described as "the heaviest" in the group's 22-year history.
She will work alongside German-based Lutz Stammitz, president of corporate mobility services for electronics firm Siemens, who was also elected.
Last year he was awarded ACTE's Advancing the Industry award, the association's highest accolade for professional development contributions.
ACTE president Richard Crum said: "I welcome Jo and Lutz as their diverse expertise will compliment the current board and is what continues to set ACTE apart as a global association.
"The new members will play a vital role in determining the direction we take and the impact we'll have on critical issues over the next three years."
A run-off election between two other members for the remaining place on the board is to be held on January 6 - 13.
Travel buyers Leigh Bochicchio of Mastercard Worldwide and Eve Coven White of HRG North America were tied for votes when the polls closed.
ACTE said information regarding the election will be posted on its website this week.
