Talks continuing with bidders
BAA denied reports today (October 8) that it was close to selling Gatwick Airport.
A spokesman for the company, which owns seven UK airports, said talks were continuing with "several bidders."
He said "no transactions have been agreed" and there was "no specific deadline."
A report in the UK said today that BAA was close to agreeing to sell the airport to Global Infrastructure Partner for between €1.65bn and €1.8bn.
BAA, which is over by the Spanish group Ferrovial, was ordered to sell three of its airports earlier this year by the UK consumer watchdog the Competition Commissions.
These were Gatwick, London Stansted and one of either Glasgow or Edinburgh.
BAA has appealed against this ruling and the hearing is set for October 19.
