Preferred Hotel Group grows to more than 700 properties

The Preferred Hotel Group added 83 new properties between July and December 2009, and predicts further growth in 2010.

The total membership now stands at more than 700 independent hotels and resorts in over 75 countries across Preferred Hotel Group's five brands: Preferred Hotels & Resorts, Preferred Boutique, Summit Hotels & Resorts, Sterling Hotels, and Historic Hotels of America.

Preferred Hotel Group has also appointed a new GDS(global distribution system provider, Sabre Hospitality Solutions and launched Sterling Design, a new group within its Sterling Hotels brand of design-led hotels "accessible to travellers seeking smart value".

In the Americas, there have been 37 additions to the Preferred Hotel Group, including Hotel Urbano (Sterling Hotels/Sterling Design) in Miami, Florida and The Allison Inn & Spa (Preferred Boutique) near Portland, Oregon.

In India, the middle east and Africa, 12 new members joined the group. The Cape Royale Luxury Hotel & Residences in Cape Town, South Africa, became a Preferred Hotels and Resorts property, along with the Kenzi Tower Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco.

In Europe, 19 new hotels joined the portfolio: Palazzo Vecchietti (Preferred Boutique) in Florence, Italy; Mon Hotel (Sterling Hotels/Sterling Design) in Paris, France; and the NJV Athens Plaza (Preferred Hotels & Resorts) in Athens, Greece.

Asia Pacific saw 14 new properties added, including Sheridan Beach Resort & Convention Center  (Sterling Hotels) in Palawan, Philippines and The Upper House, Hong Kong. The last six months also saw Preferred Hotel Group enter a partnership with Dusit International, marking a new business strategy for the group to work with non-independent hotels.
