Available on selected flights

SAS has introduced paperless boarding, with electronic 2D boarding passes now sent to passengers' mobile phones.

Customers can use the new service through an internet enabled (WAP) phone, checking in for their flight via SMS or the airline's site http://mobile.flysas.com.

The electronic boarding pass contains a bar code that can be used when passing through security, as well as for entering SAS lounges and boarding the plane.

The service is currently available on all domestic services within Scandinavia and Finland for passengers flying with SAS and its subsidiary Blue 1, as well as a limited number of long haul flights.

Lena Rökaas, SAS's vp product and customer services, said: "With the introduction of mobile boarding passes we have taken one step closer to hassle free travel."

The mobile boarding pass is also automatically updated with current flight information, such as the gate number, departure time and details of any delays.
