Bmi sells Heathrow slots

Bmi has confirmed that it has sold some of its slots at London Heathrow Airport.

The UK carrier, which was taken over by the Lufthansa Group earlier this year, controlled about 12% of the slots at the hub.

The slots, six pairs, are understood to have been sold to Lufthansa's wholly owned subsidiary SWISS which is starting a six times a day service between London and Geneva on January 10.

Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, bmi's new ceo, said that despite the sale, the airline still had enough slots to run a good network out of Heathrow.
