ITP signs up Irish partner

ITP - International Travel Partnership has signed up Shandon Corporate Travel as its Irish partner.

Shandon, founded in Cork in 1974, has 37 employees and five offices in Cork city and Dublin Airport.

Ian Epps, ITP's director of partnership relations, said: "Shandon Corporate Travel is well-known in the Irish market with experience of working in a multinational environment in various areas of the business.

"With its strong focus on quality and technology, Shandon Corporate Travel is an important addition to our expanding coverage in Europe."

ITP now has partners in 32 countries around the world.

Etihad places $14bn engine order

Etihad Airways has placed a $14bn order for engines at the Paris Air Show this week.

The engines, ordered from F GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce, Engine Alliance and International Aero Engines will power the new Airbuses and Boeings the carrier ordered at last year's Farnborough international Airshow.

This included 100 firm orders and options with purchase rights for 105 more aircraft.

The new aircraft and engines are scheduled for delivery in2011 and 2012.

Air India delays employees' pay

Air India said it would pay its 31,000 employees two weeks late.

The $70m due to the workforce at the end of this month will now be paid on July 15.

The decision comes as the India government is considering a rescue package for the national carrier which lost $800m in its last financial year.

Jitender Bhargava, a spokesman for Air India, said: "Every airline in the world is presently facing a financial crisis, including the ones in India," said. "The position continues to be difficult."

easyJet extends partnership with Europcar

Low cost carrier easyJet has extended its partnership with car rental company Europcar.

Under the new deal, which lasts until 2011, the carrier's customers can reserve a car at the same time as booking their flight.   

The deal, which began in 2003, has attracted 1.7m joint customers.

Qatar orders new engines

 Qatar Airways placed an order for new engines at the Paris Air Show this week for its 24 new Airbus A320 aircraft.

The order, worth $700m, is with International Aero Engines for its V2500 SelectOne engines.

The new aircraft are due to be delivered from this November through to 2012.
