Full content agreement until 2014
Iberia and Amadeus today (January 18) announced a new GDS deal.
Amadeus, which is part-owned by Iberia, has signed a five-year deal which gives the IT company guaranteed access to the Spanish carrier's fares, schedules and inventory.
Philippe Chérèque, executive vice president, commercial, Amadeus, said: "This agreement is a critical part of Amadeus' strategic initiative to secure long-term efficient access to the content of key airlines worldwide, ensuring functional and content parity with all other distribution channels."
"The agreement brings content security on Iberia flights to our travel agency partners and cost efficiencies to Iberia."
Amadeus has also recently signed a three-year full content agreement with British Airways (which Iberia is currently undergoing a merger with), as well as Virgin Atlantic and a five-year deal with Lufthansa.
According to Amadeus, more than 80% of all airline bookings sold by its travel agencies worldwide are made on airlines with full content agreements, representing more than 280 million bookings a year.
