Scheme offers "potential for major savings"
A new research service to help companies save money on business trips has been launched by American Express Business Travel.
eXpert insights will identify "creative strategies" in T&E programmes and offer "best practices" for bringing in new processes, Amex said.
The new service will be for subscribers only but will also feature other benefits.
Among these are access to Amex's data base of travel and expense information, which the TMC said was the largest in the industry, and to the know how of "hundreds of consultants".
Subscribers will also receive a monthly "Best Practices Road Map" report, eXpert industry insights, a monthly newsletter on supply base analysis, Amex's Business Travel Monitor, a pricing benchmark document, and its annual Business Travel Forecast.
The first Best Practices Road Map looks at air travel and claims there are potential savings of up to $2,000 per business trip.

Ms Manning said that in the "current economic environment, it is critical for companies to have access to timely data and resources to arm them with the knowledge and guidance they need to make the right travel management decisions".
She added the new service provided the "resources necessary to make the best travel strategy and policy decisions."
Hervé Sedky, Amex Business Travel's vp and general manager, said eXpert insights would bring "a much needed, creative approach that provides companies with a clear cost-savings edge".

Amex launches new research service
Excuse my incredulity, but isn't this what they should be offering their clients on a day to day, booking to booking basis anyway?
Are they saying that they've not been bothering to suggest how savings could be made and now you have to PAY for this advice?
My own advice to AX customers would be to save the fee and find a TMC who doesn't dress up the very basics of the work they should be undertaking as "the Emperor's new clothes".
