Continental Airlines is increasing the number of flights between London Heathrow and New York Newark airports.

From March 28, the airline will add a fourth daily service service. Flights will depart Heathrow Terminal 4 at 10:25am, 10:50am, 12:05pm and 6:30pm. From Newark, flights will leave at 9:00am, 6:40pm,  7:20pm and  8:00pm.

Then, from October an early morning flight from New York will be added, taking the route up to five flights daily.

As of October 31, flights will depart Heathrow at 8:40am, 10:30am, 11:15am, 12:25pm and 6pm. From New York Newark the flights will change to the following departure times: 9am, 6:25pm, 7:15pm, 9:20pm and 10:10pm.

Continental has also announced that as of June 2 all its US-bound aircraft will feature its new flat bed product in its business class cabin BusinessFirst.

Jeff Smisek, the airline's CEO, said: "Heathrow-New York is a flagship route for Continental.

"All our London-New York customers will benefit from more flight options, while those travelling in BusinessFirst - whether to New York or Houston - will be assured of a flat bed seat whenever they choose to fly with us."

The new seat, which launched in November 2009, reclines 180 degrees and provides 1.98m of sleeping space in the fully extended position.
