Travel management company Egencia has released a new travel tool to help clients monitor the cost of flights.

The air fare benchmarking tool looks at fare trends on a requested route and compares the prices over the past three months.

Egencia aims to use the new tool to help travel bookers with their decision making process and reassure them they are getting the best fare.

Part of the Expedia group, Egencia has also launched a traveller security tool, in partnership with security company red24, which keeps track of where travellers are around the world.

Christophe Pingard, senior vice president, Egencia Europe and Asia-Pacific, said: "Businesses today are faced with the challenge of managing travel spend in a shifting landscape.

"The tools and technology we are releasing is our answer to their request for more information and insight to actively monitor and control spend, and increase traveller duty of care."

Egencia's self-booking tool has also seen improvements to its usability, which the TMC says will help organisations "drive program compliance and ultimately company savings".
