Booking costs cut for carrier

The UK Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) has won a substantial cut in fees for bookings made through GDSs for easyJet.

The low cost carrier will now charge all travel management companies a fee of €4 per sector.

The previous fee was €12 per round trip booking.

Under the deal, easyJet has also said that bookings made through the GDSs for business travellers will qualify for a special rate for priority check-in and boarding.

Business travellers will be charged a flat £5 instead of the current variable rate of up to £9.

Baggage charges could also be lower but no figures are given.

The negotiations for the Guild were led by Michael Hare of Portman Travel, a major independent UK TMC.

Mr Hare, also deputy chairman of the GTMC and chair of its air working party, said: "After lengthy negotiations I'm delighted that we have reached a workable solution with easyJet for bookings made via the GDS.

"This is an excellent example of the role the GTMC can play for its members, their customers and the industry generally in creating win-win situations for all concerned".
