HRG promotes Smith

The Hogg Robinson Group has promoted Spencer Smith, its director of consulting to a new role of director corporate services solutions.

His new post gives him responsibility for sales strategy of value added services and products to major corporate prospective clients.

Mr Smith, who will report to Les Middleditch, HRG's director of sales, will also work with the company's sales executive team to identify new business opportunities.

Thistle appoints two new operations directors

Thistle Hotels has appointed David Cockburn and Chris Gillett as operations directors for, respectively, London and the UK regions.

Borg moves up at Air Malta

Ray Borg, formerly Air Malta's general manager for the Benelux countries, has been promoted to be the airline's country manager in the UK and Ireland.

Mr Borg has worked at the airline since 1974 when he joined as an accounts clerk.

He has since worked for the carrier in Switzerland, the Gulf States and Libya.

The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has appointed Julia Jufri as its regional manager for the Asia-Pacific region.

Ms Jufri joins ACTE from the Singapore Marriott where she was responsible for handling group events.

She will work at ACTE with the Asia-Pacific regional director Kenneth Phua to develop educational programmes and assist in the recruitment of new members.
