Continental Airlines announces daily non-stop service between Frankfurt and Houston (press release)

Continental Airlines today announced that it will launch a daily nonstop service between Frankfurt and its Houston, Texas hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport effective from 2 November, 2009 (westbound), subject to government approval

"We are pleased to expand our network of service from Germany by launching flights from Frankfurt to Houston," said Jim Compton, executive vice president of marketing.  "In addition to providing a link to the world's energy capital, the Houston service will provide German travellers with convenient onward connections to destinations throughout the Americas."

Flights will depart Frankfurt daily at 1:40 p.m. and arrive in Houston at 5:50 p.m. the same day.  The return flights will depart Houston daily at 6:50 p.m. and arrive in Frankfurt at 11:40 a.m. the next day.

The service will be operated by Boeing 767-200ER aircraft, seating 25 passengers in BusinessFirst and 149 passengers in economy.

Continental currently operates daily flights from Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg to its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport.  Frankfurt joins London, Paris and Amsterdam as the fourth European city served nonstop by Continental from Houston.

The new flights will offer Continental's award-winning BusinessFirst service.  BusinessFirst features an extensive gourmet menu served with premium wines and champagnes created by Continental's Congress of Chefs and Sommeliers.  International concierge service provides individualised pre- and post-flight services for BusinessFirst customers at 39 airports around the world.  Customers traveling in BusinessFirst may also access any of Continental's 26 Presidents Clubs and more than 60 airline affiliated lounges worldwide.

Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States, is the home of 26 Fortune 500 companies and more than 3,600 energy-related firms, making it one of the energy capitals of the world.  Famous as the location of Mission Control for NASA's Space Program, the city is also renowned for its Theater District, home to eight performing arts organisations, and for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which attracts more than 1.6 million visitors each year.  Houston's Texas Medical Center is the largest medical centre in the world. 

The new service has been conveniently timed to connect at Houston with an extensive network of service throughout the southwestern U.S.A. and Latin America.  Continental, whose headquarters are in Houston, has its largest hub at the city's George Bush Intercontinental Airport, operating 645 flights a day and serving 163 cities non-stop.
