Japan Air Lines (JAL) is the latest in the seemingly endless list of airlines that have swapped from Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO) airport to its privately run rival, Domodedovo (DME).

Japan Airlines really does fly oneworld

 


To mark its recent addition to the global airline alliance, the first of two Boeing 777s that Japan Airlines (JAL) is painting with a special oneworld design has made its maiden flight. The aircraft, a Boeing 777ER, will  initially operate between Japan, Amsterdam and Paris, as well as on other European routes in the future. 

Major expansion for oneworld alliance

Oneworld has completed the biggest expansion in its history with Japan Airlines, Malev Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian all now offering the alliance's services and benefits as full members. Seven other carriers have joined at the same time as affiliates: LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador, as well as JAL associates JALways, Japan Asia Airways, JAL Express, J-AIR and Japan Transocean Air.

oneworld expands its membership

Japan Airlines (JAL), Mal”v Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian Airlines will start offering oneworld services and benefits from 1 April 2007 in the biggest expansion of the global airline alliance since its launch eight years ago.  Five other members of the JAL Group will also join as affiliates ” JALways, Japan Asia Airways, JAL Express, J-AIR and Japan Transocean Air.

Turkish set to join Star

Turkish Airline is set to become the 21st member of the Star Alliance.
The application was accepted by board members of the Star Alliance at their meeting in Istanbul last weekend.
The Alliance currently has 19 members, led by Lufthansa and United Airlines.
But Air China and Shanghai Airlines are due to join in the next year, before Turkish.
