Hotelier of the Week: Heiko Figge (Sep 6)

After working for Thistle Hotels in the 1980s, Heiko Figge has "come home" as the chain's new chief operating officer. He talks to ABTN about his plans for the chain which operates 33 hotels, including 10 in Central London and two in Malaysia and is part of Guoman Hotel Management (UK) Limited. He was previously with Marriott and Paramount before re-joining Thistle

Heiko Figge

Thistle announces Figge as new coo

Heiko Figge has joined Thistle Hotels as its new chief operating officer.

Mr Figge previously worked for the chain for ten years as manager of its Royal Trafalgar, City Barbican and Marble Arch properties in the late 80s and early 90s.

Trained and educated in Bonn, Mr Figge has since gathered 25 years of hotel experience in the UK, France, Bermuda and his native Germany.

Riddian Davies

Riddian Davies has been appointed as Guoman Hotels' new general manager of the Charing  Cross Hotel.  He previously worked for the chain in Asia overseeing the opening of three g hotels while area manager in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He has also worked for Guoman's sister hotel chain Thistle. As part of his new duties, Mr Davies will oversee the extensive refurbishment of the Charing Cross property.

Upgrade for Royal Horseguards Hotel

The Royal Horseguards Hotel, well known because of its connection with the adjoining conference facility One Whitehall Place, is set to become the fourth Guoman Hotel in the first quarter of 2009.
